English Teacher
Location: Hackney
Salary: £165 - £265 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Long Term, Part Time (3 days a week)
GSL Education London Branch is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher to join a welcoming coeducational secondary school and Sixth Form in Hackney. Responsibilities of the English Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 if appropriate.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students can thrive.
- Assess, monitor and record student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Prepare students for GCSE and, where applicable, A-Level examinations.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with different abilities.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with the school's policies.
- Work closely with colleagues to develop and share high-quality teaching resources.
- Attend departmental meetings, parents' evenings and other school events as required.
- Support the wider life of the school through pastoral responsibilities and enrichment activities.
Requirements for the English Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Previous experience working as an English Teacher in a secondary school.
- Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for English.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A genuine passion for teaching and inspiring young people.
- Ability to motivate students and raise attainment.
- A collaborative and professional approach to working with colleagues.
- An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
