Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom-based support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning and develop confidence throughout the school day. You will work closely with teachers and the SEN team, adapting your approach to meet individual needs while encouraging positive engagement, independence and progress in a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.

  • Support pupils with communication, social and emotional development.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and active participation in lessons.

  • Help implement individual support plans and learning strategies.

  • Record progress and share relevant observations with teaching staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN is advantageous.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, compassionate and adaptable approach.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
