Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and is keen to gain valuable experience in a school environment while supporting students' progress.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee lessons during teacher absences, ensuring students complete the work provided and remain engaged throughout the day. You will maintain a positive learning environment, manage classroom behaviour and provide clear guidance across a range of subjects. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

Responsibilities:

Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff.

Maintain positive classroom behaviour and keep students focused on learning.

Ensure lesson objectives are completed to a good standard.

Provide guidance and support where appropriate without introducing new teaching content.

Record attendance and report any concerns or incidents following lessons.

Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support students across the school.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident classroom management and strong communication skills.

The ability to remain calm, organised and adaptable.

A professional and positive approach to supporting students.

The ability to work effectively as part of a school team.

A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
