Learning Support Mentor – SEN School – Heybridge | Immediate Start | Full-Time
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential?
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Mentor to join a welcoming SEN school in Heybridge. This is a full-time role supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN), and other complex learning needs.
The Role
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs
- Support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and engagement
- Build positive and trusting relationships that promote independence, resilience, and self-esteem
- Work closely with Teachers, SENCOs, Therapists, Safeguarding Teams, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Deliver targeted interventions to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their EHCP targets
- Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, adapting your approach to meet individual needs
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive
What We're Looking For
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive individual
- Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, residential settings, coaching, mentoring, or support roles
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence supporting pupils with SEND, Autism, SEMH, or complex learning needs
- A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their full potential
- Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Support Workers, Youth Workers, Sports Coaches, Residential Care Workers, Psychology Graduates, and aspiring teachers are all encouraged to apply
Pay & Benefits
- £92.59–£120 per day (depending on experience)
- Fortnightly pay – reliable and consistent
- Full-time, long-term opportunity with potential for permanent placement
- Excellent experience for careers in SEND, teaching, educational psychology, social work, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, counselling, behaviour support, and pastoral support
