Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

A welcoming secondary school in Doncaster is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant (Secondary) to join them from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to support students in their learning, build positive relationships and make a meaningful contribution to the school community.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you will work closely with teachers to support students in the classroom, providing individual and small-group assistance where needed. You will help pupils stay engaged with their learning, encourage confidence and contribute to a positive and well-organised classroom environment. No two days are the same, making this a rewarding role for someone who enjoys variety and working with young people.

Responsibilities:

Support students during lessons on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson preparation.

Encourage students to participate confidently in learning.

Provide additional support for pupils who require extra guidance.

Help maintain a safe, positive and organised classroom environment.

Monitor student progress and share observations with teaching staff where appropriate.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, caring and adaptable approach.

The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Good organisational skills and a proactive attitude.

A genuine commitment to supporting young people in education.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
