Job Title: Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are working with forward-thinking schools in Barnsley to appoint a Design and Technology Teacher. We are looking for a skilled and tech savvy educator who can deliver practical lessons, nurture creative thinking, and equip students with valuable technical and problem-solving skills.

The Design and Technology Teacher role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining creativity with practical learning to prepare students for future study and careers.

DT Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Design and Technology lessons
  • Encourage creativity, innovation, and independent thinking through project-based learning
  • Demonstrate safe use of workshop equipment, tools, and materials at all times
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to improve performance
  • Prepare practical resources and maintain an organised, safe learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and student outcomes

D&T Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Experience teaching Design and Technology in a secondary school is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of workshop safety procedures and the Design and Technology curriculum
  • Ability to motivate students through engaging practical activities
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
