Job Title: Sports Coach
Location: Barnsley
Pay: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are looking to appoint a Sports Coach to work within welcoming educational institutes in Barnsley. We are seeking a motivated individual who can encourage participation, promote healthy lifestyles, and use sport to build students' confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys motivating young people while supporting their personal, social, and physical development.

Sports Coach Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging sports sessions that encourage participation and skill development
  • Support pupils during PE lessons, extracurricular activities, and school sporting events
  • Promote teamwork, respect, and positive behaviour through structured activities
  • Adapt coaching sessions to suit different ages, abilities, and learning needs
  • Work alongside teaching staff to encourage student engagement and wellbeing
  • Help maintain a safe and inclusive environment during all physical activities

Sports Coach Requirements:

  • Previous coaching or sports leadership experience is desirable
  • Experience working with children or young people is advantageous
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships and encourage student participation
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and able to adapt to different school environments
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
