Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are looking to appoint an Attendance Officer to join supportive educational settings in Sheffield. We are seeking an organised and proactive individual who can promote excellent attendance, build positive relationships with families, and help students overcome barriers to regular school attendance.
This role is key to improving attendance, supporting student wellbeing, and ensuring every learner has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily attendance records and follow up on unexplained absences promptly
- Work with students and families to improve attendance and punctuality
- Maintain accurate attendance data and prepare reports when required
- Liaise with teaching staff and pastoral teams to identify attendance concerns early
- Support interventions that encourage regular school attendance and engagement
- Ensure attendance procedures are followed in line with school policies and statutory guidance
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Previous experience in school attendance, administration, or student support is desirable
- Good understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding responsibilities
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to communicate confidently with students, families, and school staff
- Professional, approachable, and able to handle confidential information appropriately
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
