Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an Advanced Teaching Assistant to work within secondary schools in Selby. We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and highly organised support professional who is committed to helping students overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their full academic potential in an inclusive learning environment.

Advanced Teaching Assistant Role:

The successful Advanced Teaching Assistant will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering targeted interventions and providing personalised support to students with a range of educational needs. We are looking to recruit an Advanced Teaching Assistant who can work effectively alongside teachers and pastoral staff while building positive relationships with students who may require additional guidance and encouragement.

Advanced Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group interventions to support student progress
  • Assist teaching staff in adapting learning activities to meet individual student needs
  • Support students with SEND, SEMH, and other barriers to learning, encouraging independence and engagement
  • Monitor student development and contribute to progress reviews and support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm, inclusive, and productive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to enhance student outcomes

Advanced Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar educational support role
  • Understanding of supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
