Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you confident leading a classroom and ready to inspire students in a rewarding school-based role? A welcoming secondary school in Wakefield is seeking a reliable and motivated Cover Supervisor to join their team.
About the Role:
GSL Education South Yorkshire are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to work in a supportive secondary school in Wakefield. In this role, you will supervise lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning while maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, following the work provided.

Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a purposeful learning environment.

Encourage students to remain focused and engaged throughout lessons.

Provide guidance and support where appropriate without delivering new lesson content.

Report any concerns or incidents to teaching and pastoral staff.

Uphold school policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

A confident, calm and adaptable approach.

The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

Experience in a school setting is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited Education-relevant CPD courses.
