Location: Barnsley
Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: Immediately
About the Role:
GSL Education South Yorkshire are currently looking for dedicated SEMH Support Staff to work in a supportive school in Barnsley. This rewarding role involves providing tailored support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and engage positively in their education.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.

Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils.

Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual support strategies.

Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.

Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records where required.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is advantageous.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A genuine commitment to supporting young people's wellbeing and educational progress.
To work with GSL Education as SEMH Support Staff, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited Education-relevant CPD courses.
