We are seeking a passionate educator who is committed to supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with Key Stage 4 learners who may have become disengaged from education, delivering personalised learning programmes that inspire confidence, encourage participation, and help students reconnect with their educational journey.
About the Role:
As a Tutor, you will become part of a dedicated and supportive team focused on delivering bespoke learning opportunities for small groups of learners. The successful candidate will provide engaging classroom-based tuition alongside practical enrichment activities, helping students overcome barriers to learning through creative, flexible, and student-centred approaches.
You will build positive relationships with learners and their families, acting as a trusted source of encouragement while promoting attendance, resilience, independence, and academic progress. This varied role will involve supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom, creating experiences that motivate students to achieve their potential.
Core Responsibilities of the Tutor:
- Plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning sessions for small groups of KS4 learners
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH and additional learning needs
- Build strong, positive relationships with students and their families to encourage engagement and attendance
- Deliver creative learning experiences, including enrichment and community-based activities where appropriate
- Implement behaviour support strategies that promote a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
As the Ideal Tutor, You Should Have:
- NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH or additional needs
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and inclusive teaching practices
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Ability to build trusting relationships that motivate and inspire young people
- Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills
