Are you confident leading a classroom and inspiring young people to stay engaged with their learning? A supportive secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team.
About the Role:
GSL Education South Yorkshire are currently looking for a Cover Supervisor to work in a welcoming secondary school in Sheffield. In this classroom-based role, you will supervise lessons during teacher absences, ensure students remain focused on the work provided, and maintain a positive and productive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced school support staff.

Responsibilities:

Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff.

Deliver pre-planned lesson materials and ensure students remain on task.

Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies.

Provide guidance and support to students where appropriate.

Report lesson outcomes and any concerns to teaching staff.

Contribute to a safe, positive and well-managed learning environment.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Confidence leading groups of students independently.

A calm, adaptable and professional approach.

Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

An interest in education or previous school-based experience is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
