Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay: £105–£115 per day (depending on experience)

Are you a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant providing the encouragement and tailored support a Year 1 pupil needs to thrive in the classroom?

GSL Education are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a welcoming school in Leeds (LS25). This full-time role involves supporting Year 1 pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with young learners and provide consistent support throughout the school day. Candidates who hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport will be given priority.

SEN TA Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated support to Year 1 pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual learning and communication needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and active participation in lessons
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver personalised learning strategies
  • Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff and the SENCO
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment

SEN TA Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
  • Experience working with primary-aged pupils, particularly Key Stage 1, is desirable.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting children.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable and will be prioritised.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
