GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Officer to work within supportive schools across Newcastle upon Tyne. About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support. You will provide targeted interventions, encourage positive choices, and help create a calm and structured learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn.

This is a part-time role, and applicants must be available to work 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group behaviour support
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional wellbeing
  • Help pupils remain engaged in lessons and school activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and parents
  • Implement behaviour support plans and monitor student progress
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals is desirable
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A patient, calm, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships
  • Confidence in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Passion for improving young people's wellbeing and educational outcomes
  • Reliable, flexible, and committed attitude
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
  • Available to work 5 days per week
