GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Officer to work within supportive schools across Newcastle upon Tyne. About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support. You will provide targeted interventions, encourage positive choices, and help create a calm and structured learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn.
This is a part-time role, and applicants must be available to work 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group behaviour support
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional wellbeing
- Help pupils remain engaged in lessons and school activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and parents
- Implement behaviour support plans and monitor student progress
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals is desirable
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A patient, calm, and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive and professional relationships
- Confidence in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
- Passion for improving young people's wellbeing and educational outcomes
- Reliable, flexible, and committed attitude
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
- Available to work 5 days per week
