GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join supportive schools across Sunderland from September 2026. About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering high-quality lessons while providing additional support to pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. You will encourage participation, promote positive behaviour, and help create an inclusive classroom where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
This is a part-time position, with candidates expected to be available to work 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Provide 1:1 and small group intervention support
- Assist pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development
- Encourage confidence, independence, and active participation in lessons
- Support pupils with a range of learning needs and abilities
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals
- Prepare classroom resources and assist with learning activities
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Passion for supporting children's learning and development
- Reliable, professional, and committed attitude
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
- Available to work 5 days per week
