Behaviour Mentor – Maldon SEN| Immediate Start | Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning?

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor / Student Support Mentor / Learning Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in Harlow. This is a full-time role supporting students who may require additional support with behaviour, SEMH needs, emotional regulation, attendance, engagement, confidence, safeguarding and wellbeing.

This role would suit candidates with experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant (Behaviour), SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Inclusion Support Worker, Pastoral Assistant, Sports Coach, Residential Support Worker, or Psychology Graduate.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to students
  • Support students with behaviour management, de-escalation, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that promote confidence, resilience, aspiration and self-esteem
  • Work closely with Pastoral Leads, Heads of Year, SENCOs, Safeguarding Teams and Teaching Staff
  • Deliver and support targeted intervention strategies to improve behaviour, attendance, attainment and outcomes
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, including during break, lunch and transition periods
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed and positive learning environment
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies, restorative practice and consistent boundaries

What We’re Looking For

  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to working with young people
  • Experience in education, youth work, coaching, mentoring, care, safeguarding or support settings
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management, SEMH, SEND, ASD, ADHD and emotional needs (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence supporting students with challenging behaviour and additional needs
  • A genuine passion for inclusion, wellbeing, safeguarding and improving life outcomes
  • Graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, sports coaches, support workers and psychology graduates are strongly encouraged to apply

Pay & Benefits

  • £92.59 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
  • Fortnightly pay – reliable and consistent
  • Full-time, long-term opportunity with potential for permanent placement
