Job description

GSL are seeking a dedicated Outreach Tutor to support students in a SEN / SEMH setting across Maldon and surrounding areas, working with young people who are currently unable to access mainstream education due to SEN (Special Educational Needs), SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), ASD, ADHD, anxiety, behavioural needs and disengagement from learning. This is a rewarding role delivering 1:1 tuition and outreach support, helping learners re-engage with education and rebuild confidence.

You will work closely with schools, SENCOs, pastoral teams, families and external agencies to deliver bespoke learning sessions tailored to individual needs, supporting both academic progress and emotional wellbeing in a flexible, student-centred approach.

If you are an experienced Outreach Tutor, SEN Tutor, Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, HLTA or Graduate Tutor, this role would suit someone who is resilient, patient and passionate about supporting learners outside of a traditional classroom environment.

You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of areas, including:

  • Helping learners re-engage with education and reduce disengagement and exclusion risk
  • Working closely with schools, SENCOs and safeguarding teams
  • Tracking progress and adapting learning strategies to individual needs
  • Creating a safe, consistent and supportive learning environment

As an Outreach Tutor, you will play a key role in re-engaging vulnerable learners with education, supporting both their academic progress and emotional development through flexible, trauma-informed and relationship-based practice.
