Behaviour Support Assistant – Alternative Provision
Location: Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: £93–£115 per day
Contract: Full-time / Long-term
Start Date: September 2026

GSL Education Hull is seeking dedicated and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to work within Alternative Provision and specialist setting in Hull. This is a rewarding opportunity to help students overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and achieve their full potential in a structured and nurturing environment.
The Role as a Behaviour Support Assistant:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH, SEND, and behavioural needs.

Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement and emotional wellbeing.

Support students both inside and outside the classroom.

Implement behaviour support plans and intervention strategies.

Use effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour.

Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, resilience, and independence.

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals.

Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and the welfare of all pupils.
The Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour.

Remains calm, patient, and resilient under pressure.

Demonstrates excellent communication and behaviour management skills.

Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.

Holds Team Teach, PMVA, MAPA, or similar positive behaviour management training (desirable but not essential).

Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
