Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

Are you an enthusiastic and inspiring English Teacher looking to help young people develop a lifelong appreciation for language and literature?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated English Teacher to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity to work in supportive educational settings where you can inspire students to become confident readers, writers, and communicators.

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, encouraging students to explore a wide range of literary texts while developing their analytical thinking, creativity, and communication skills.

English Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Foster students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through creative and well-structured teaching
  • Inspire a passion for literature, language, and creative expression
  • Differentiate learning to support students with a range of abilities and learning needs
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress to inform future planning
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote high standards of teaching and learning
  • Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities where appropriate

English Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Degree or specialism in English or a related subject
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • A passion for English education and supporting student achievement
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
