Job Title: Pastoral Support Officer
Location: Newcastle
Pay: £95–£115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are recruiting a Pastoral Support Officer to join progressive educational settings in Newcastle. This role would suit a compassionate and resilient individual who can provide guidance, promote student wellbeing, and work closely with staff to create a positive and supportive school environment.
The Pastoral Support Officer is going to play an important part in improving student engagement, attendance, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
Responsibilities of Pastoral Support Officer:
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage confidence and resilience
- Support pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional, or social challenges
- Monitor attendance, wellbeing, and engagement, raising concerns where appropriate
- Work alongside teachers, families, and external professionals to provide effective student support
- Help implement pastoral programmes and intervention strategies that promote positive outcomes
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, meetings, and support plans
Requirements for Pastoral Support Officer:
- Previous experience in pastoral care, mentoring, youth work, or a similar support role is desirable
- Good understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- Calm, empathetic, and solution-focused approach to supporting young people
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
