Job Title: Sports Coach
Location: North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92 – £115 per day

GSL Education are searching for motivated and adaptable Sports Coaches to work within schools across North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals from sports, fitness, and coaching backgrounds to utilise their communication, leadership, and behaviour management skills in a school-based setting.
While the title is Sports Coach, this role extends beyond sport and physical activity. You will support students across a variety of educational environments, helping to promote positive behaviour, engagement, wellbeing, and academic progress. This is an ideal opportunity for those considering a future career in education, youth work, pastoral support, or teaching.
Sports Coach Responsibilities:
- Support students within classrooms, helping them remain engaged and focused on learning
- Build positive relationships with young people and act as a positive role model
- Assist teachers and support staff in delivering effective learning experiences
- Provide behaviour support to students who may require additional guidance and encouragement
- Work with individuals and small groups to improve engagement, confidence, and participation
- Support students with a range of needs, including SEND and SEMH where required
- Assist with cover supervision and classroom management during teacher absences
- Promote resilience, teamwork, respect, and positive attitudes towards learning
Sports Coach Requirements:
- Background in sports coaching, fitness instruction, personal training, youth coaching, or a related field
- Experience working with children, young people, or community groups is desirable
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate, engage, and build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
- Confidence in managing behaviour and maintaining positive relationships
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people
- Interest in education, mentoring, pastoral support, or youth development
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
