Job Title: Tutor
Location: North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £25 – £35 per hour
Are you a knowledgeable and dedicated Tutor looking to help young people build confidence, overcome learning barriers, and achieve their academic goals?
GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Tutor to work within educational settings across North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide targeted academic support to students, helping them strengthen their understanding, improve attainment, and develop the skills needed for long-term success.
As a Tutor, you will work closely with learners who may require additional support to reach their potential. You will deliver personalised learning sessions, identify areas for development, and adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each student.
Tutor Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group tuition sessions across a range of subjects
- Identify learning gaps and develop strategies to support academic progress
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual learning styles and abilities
- Support students in building confidence, motivation, and independent learning skills
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to students and relevant staff
- Help students prepare for assessments, coursework, and examinations where appropriate
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes engagement and achievement
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent learner support
Tutor Requirements:
- A degree or relevant qualification in a curriculum subject or related field
- Previous experience tutoring, mentoring, teaching, or supporting young people is desirable
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach to learning support
- Ability to motivate students and build positive working relationships
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
