Location: Whitstable, Kent
Salary: £95 - £120 per day
Start date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time

GSL Education Kent are currently recruiting for a committed Inclusion Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Canterbury from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive pastoral and inclusion team focused on ensuring all students, particularly those with additional needs or vulnerabilities, can thrive both academically and socially.
The successful Inclusion Assistant will work closely with the Inclusion Lead and SENCo to support teaching and learning, helping to create an inclusive environment where every student feels a strong sense of belonging. This is a varied and meaningful role involving both direct student support and wider contribution to inclusive provision across the school.
The ideal Inclusion Assistant will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students and promoting inclusion
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in record keeping
- The ability to support targeted interventions for individuals and small groups
- A proactive, resilient, and adaptable approach to working in a busy school environment
- The ability to contribute effectively as part of a wider pastoral and inclusion team
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils with SEN and additional needs in partnership with the Inclusion Lead and SENCo
- Delivering targeted interventions and differentiated support programmes
- Maintaining accurate records relating to SEN, pastoral, and medical needs
- Assisting with provision maps, behaviour plans, risk assessments, and intervention plans
- Liaising with staff, parents, carers, and external agencies
- Supporting students’ academic progress, wellbeing, and social development
