GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in welcoming schools across Newcastle upon Tyne from September 2026. We are looking for caring, patient, and proactive individuals who can build positive relationships with pupils and staff while helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning and achieve positive outcomes. You will provide classroom support, assist with learning activities, and work with individual pupils and small groups to boost confidence, engagement, and progress.
This part-time position offers flexibility while allowing you to gain valuable experience within a supportive school setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning activities across the classroom
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils
- Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
- Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and confidence
- Support pupils with a range of learning abilities and needs
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Promote positive behaviour and learning attitudes
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents where required
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, supportive, and adaptable approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Passion for helping young people succeed
- Reliable, professional, and committed attitude
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
