Job Title: Pastoral Support
Location: Wakefield
Pay: £120 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are looking to appoint a Pastoral Support professional within supportive school communities in Wakefield. We are seeking a compassionate and resilient individual who can provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support to students facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.

The Pastoral Support role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students improve wellbeing, engagement, attendance, and overall school experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students requiring additional guidance and encouragement
  • Build positive relationships that promote trust, confidence, and engagement
  • Support students with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
  • Assist with attendance, wellbeing, and behaviour interventions where required
  • Work closely with staff, families, and external professionals to support student progress
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Pastoral Support Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, mentoring, care, or support settings is desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations
  • Understanding of student wellbeing and behaviour support strategies
  • Positive, proactive, and empathetic approach to supporting young people
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
