Food Technology Teacher – SEMH School | Barnet

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to join a well-established SEMH school in Barnet. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and compassionate educator to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

About the Role

As our Food Technology Teacher, you will:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Food Technology lessons that are tailored to the National Curriculum and adapted to meet the individual needs of students across all key stages.
  • Create a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages a love of food, practical cooking skills, and an understanding of nutrition.
  • Develop students’ confidence, independence, and life skills through hands-on learning experiences in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food presentation.
  • Differentiate teaching strategies to ensure all learners can access and enjoy the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and external professionals to promote the academic, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and organisation within the food technology classroom and kitchen environment.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Food Technology or a related subject.
  • A genuine passion for food education and the ability to inspire and engage young people with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a positive approach to behaviour support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student can succeed.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and promoting student welfare.
  • Experience working with students with SEN and/or SEMH needs (desirable but not essential).
