Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 – £650 per week
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately
GSL Education is seeking motivated individuals from a sports, coaching or fitness background to work in school-based support roles across Rotherham. These positions are within secondary education settings where you will support learning, assist in classrooms, and help maintain positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
This is a great opportunity for those looking to move away from traditional sports environments and into education, using coaching experience to build structure, confidence and consistency for young people in schools.
About the Role:
This role is based in school settings, supporting pupils with their learning and behaviour across the classroom. While your background may be in sport or fitness, the focus here is not sports delivery. Instead, you will use transferable skills such as discipline, communication and group management to support students in lessons, cover supervision and small group work.
Key Responsibilities:

Support teaching staff with classroom-based learning activities

Supervise lessons as a cover supervisor or learning support assistant

Support behaviour management and help maintain a positive learning environment

Engage students and encourage focus and participation in lessons

Provide support to pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis where required

Use strong communication and structure to support pupil progress and engagement
Requirements:

Background in sports, coaching, fitness or similar people-focused environments

Confidence working with young people in a school setting

Strong communication and behaviour management skills

Adaptable, reliable and professional approach

Willingness to support across a range of classroom-based tasks

Interest in working within education and supporting student development
