Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Pay: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are working with nurturing schools in Sheffield to recruit an SEMH Teacher. We are seeking a resilient and compassionate educator who can create a supportive learning environment while helping students develop confidence, emotional awareness, and academic success.

The Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teacher role supports students through challenges while helping them develop confidence, resilience, and positive learning habits.

Responsibilities of SEMH Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging lessons that meet the academic and emotional needs of students with SEMH needs
  • Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and wellbeing
  • Adapt teaching approaches to suit individual abilities and learning requirements
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support students in developing self-regulation skills
  • Monitor progress and implement strategies that support achievement and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, families, and external professionals where required

Requirements for SEMH Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs is desirable
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
