Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join inclusive schools in Rotherham. We are seeking a patient and resilient individual who can provide consistent support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage positively with learning and school life.

The Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistant will help students build confidence, improve emotional wellbeing, and develop positive strategies for success.

Responsibilities of SEMH TA:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs throughout the school day
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote emotional resilience
  • Assist students in managing challenges that may affect learning and engagement
  • Support the implementation of intervention plans and individual support strategies
  • Build positive relationships that encourage trust, confidence, and progress
  • Work alongside teachers and support staff to create a nurturing learning environment

Requirements for SEMH TA:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional support needs is desirable
  • Understanding of strategies that support emotional wellbeing and behaviour management
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
