GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across Newcastle upon Tyne from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with young people and are looking for a rewarding role within education.

About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning and complete the work provided. You will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning and promoting positive behaviour throughout the school day.
This is a part-time position, ideal for individuals seeking flexibility while maintaining a regular presence within schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities
- Ensure students remain on task and engaged with their work
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and professionally
- Support students with questions relating to lesson tasks
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Confident leading groups of students
- Flexible, reliable, and professional approach
- Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments
- Passion for supporting students' learning and development
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
