Creative Teaching Assistant

Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: September 2026

This Creative Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone with a background or interest in art, music, drama, sports, dance or other creative disciplines who is passionate about supporting young people in their education and development.

The successful Creative Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and support staff to engage pupils in learning through creative approaches and positive relationship building. As a Creative Teaching Assistant, you will help pupils develop confidence, communication skills and engagement both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities of the Creative Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.

  • Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

  • Using creative approaches to support engagement and learning.

  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, communication and social skills.

  • Supporting pupils with additional learning, behavioural or emotional needs.

  • Assisting with classroom activities, educational projects and enrichment opportunities.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and classroom engagement.

  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

The Ideal Creative Teaching Assistant Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people.

  • Have a background or strong interest in art, music, drama, sports, dance or other creative fields.

  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and adaptable.

  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Be confident supporting pupils with varying needs and abilities.

  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

  • Have a fully checkable work history.
