Job Title: Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part-Time, Temporary, Supply
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92-£115 Per day

GSL Education are currently looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Level 2 Teaching Assistants to work in schools across York and the surrounding areas. This opportunity is based within a supportive educational setting where students are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning in a safe and inclusive environment.
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality classroom support, helping students to access learning and engage positively in school life. You may support individuals or small groups of pupils, including those with additional learning needs, ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
Main Responsibilities as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.
- Support pupils with varying educational needs, helping them access the curriculum effectively.
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and engagement in lessons.
- Help promote students’ social, emotional, and personal development.
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where required.
- Assist with classroom organisation and the creation of a safe and stimulating learning environment.
- Support the implementation of individual education plans and targeted interventions where appropriate.
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute to the wellbeing of all students.
Level 2 Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- A recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is desirable.
- Understanding of how to support students with a range of learning needs and abilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, flexible, and supportive approach to working with young people.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under guidance.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
