Location: Fulford, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to work within a secondary school in Fulford and the surrounding areas.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to engage students in the study of historical events, cultures, and ideas, while fostering analytical thinking, independent enquiry, and a deeper understanding of how the past shapes the present. The successful candidate will be confident teaching across the ability range at Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to teach History and/or Politics at A Level being highly desirable.
About the Role:
As a History Teacher, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that encourage learners to explore a broad range of historical topics and perspectives. You will create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where students are challenged to evaluate evidence, develop arguments, and think critically about historical and contemporary issues.
There may also be opportunities to contribute to post-16 teaching, supporting students studying History and/or Politics at A Level.
Key Responsibilities of the History Teacher:
- Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Teach learners across a wide range of abilities, adapting lessons to meet individual needs
- Encourage critical thinking, source analysis, and independent research skills
- Support students in developing strong written communication and evaluative skills
- Assess, monitor, and track learner progress, providing constructive feedback
- Prepare students for examinations and support academic achievement
- Contribute to the teaching of History and/or Politics at A Level where appropriate
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and learner success
As the Ideal History Teacher, You Should Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History
- Ability to teach across the full ability range at KS3 and KS4
- Experience or willingness to teach History and/or Politics at A Level is desirable
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning

- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience teaching within an educational setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
