Job Title: History Teacher
Location: Fulford, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £168.80 – £261.79 per day

GSL Education are currently hiring a knowledgeable and enthusiastic History Teacher to work in secondary schools across Fulford, and the surrounding areas. This opportunity is based within a successful and supportive secondary school environment that values academic excellence, curiosity, and student achievement.
As a History Teacher, you will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting students of all abilities to develop a strong understanding of historical concepts, evidence, and interpretation. The ability to teach History and/or Politics at A Level would be highly desirable and would provide an opportunity to contribute to post-16 learning within the department.
Main Responsibilities as a History Teacher:
- Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons in line with the national curriculum and examination specifications.
- Teach across the full ability range at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
- Develop students' analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills through the study of historical events, sources, and interpretations.
- Encourage curiosity, independent enquiry, and informed discussion within the classroom.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and academic performance.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental initiatives, and enrichment activities where required.
- Support students in preparing for examinations and achieving their academic potential.
- Teach History and/or Politics at A Level where appropriate and in line with departmental requirements.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes a love of learning.
History Teacher Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting.
- Ability to teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4 to students of varying abilities.
- Experience teaching, or willingness to teach, History and/or Politics at A Level is desirable.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for historical learning.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
