Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)

A supportive and inclusive school in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join their team. This Pastoral Support Assistant role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people’s wellbeing, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and promoting positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.
The successful Pastoral Support Assistant will work closely with pupils, families, teaching staff and senior leaders to provide emotional, behavioural and pastoral support. As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a key role in improving attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and engagement in education.
Key Responsibilities of the Pastoral Support Assistant:

Providing pastoral, emotional and behavioural support to pupils.

Building positive and professional relationships with pupils and families.

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.

Promoting positive behaviour, attendance and engagement in learning.

Working alongside teaching staff and pastoral leaders to implement support plans.

Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Monitoring pupil wellbeing and reporting concerns where appropriate.

Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment.
The Ideal Pastoral Support Assistant Will:

Have previous experience working with children or young people.

Have experience supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional or social needs.

Be patient, resilient and approachable.

Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
-
Be confident working with pupils, parents and external agencies.

Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

Have a fully checkable work history.
