Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part time, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to work within secondary schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.

About the Role:
As an English Teacher, you will deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering both English Language and Literature. You will be responsible for creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where students are supported to develop their reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.
You will work with learners of varying abilities, ensuring that all students are challenged appropriately and supported to achieve their full potential.
Core Responsibilities of the English Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Create inspiring learning experiences that promote a love of reading and writing
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all learners
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress effectively
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations
- Encourage discussion, debate, and independent thinking
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and student achievement
- Contribute to wider school activities where appropriate
As the Ideal English Teacher, You Should Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge of English Language and Literature
- Ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience teaching within an educational setting
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
