Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary Provision

GSL Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded specialist primary provision in Poole, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their welcoming team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a school that provides a nurturing, therapeutic and highly personalised learning environment for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school supports children who face a range of barriers to learning, including Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties and associated complex learning needs. Pupils benefit from small class sizes, tailored support and a child-centred approach designed to help them thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support pupils both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. Every day is different, and you will play a vital role in helping children build confidence, develop independence and achieve their individual goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting with personalised learning activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting communication, social development and engagement in learning
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
Who Would Be Suitable?
We would love to hear from candidates who have experience in:
- Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- SEMH provision
- Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant roles
- Care, support work or residential settings
- Youth work, mentoring or coaching
- Psychology, Education or Health & Social Care backgrounds
- Graduates looking to begin a career within education
