Humanities Teacher

Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £165 - £265 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Long Term, Part Time (2 days a week)

GSL Education London Branch is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Humanities Teacher to join a welcoming girls’ secondary school and sixth form in Lewisham. This is a long-term, part-time position starting in September 2026, ideal for a dedicated Humanities Teacher who enjoys teaching both Geography and History.

This vibrant school is looking for a passionate Humanities Teacher who can deliver engaging lessons and help students achieve their full potential. The successful Humanities Teacher will become part of a supportive department that values creativity, high standards, and excellent teaching.

Responsibilities of the Humanities Teacher:

  • Teach Geography and History across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach at KS5.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor and support students’ academic progress.
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Work closely with colleagues and contribute to departmental activities.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.

Requirements for the Humanities Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience working as a Humanities Teacher in UK secondary schools.
  • Strong knowledge of Geography and History curricula.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of different abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
