GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to work in supportive schools across Gateshead from September 2026. About the Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting students both academically and personally. You will work closely with teachers to help deliver engaging lessons, provide targeted support to pupils, and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
This part-time position is ideal for graduates seeking flexibility while gaining meaningful experience within schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning across a range of subjects
- Provide 1:1 and small group intervention support
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and participation
- Support students with varying learning abilities and needs
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Promote positive behaviour and learning attitudes
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
What We're Looking For
- A degree in any subject area
- Passion for working with children and young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Reliable and professional approach to work
- Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one – Essential
