Teacher of PE
Location: Ripon, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part-Time, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £168.80 – £261.79 per day

GSL Education are currently hiring an enthusiastic Teacher of PE to work in secondary schools across Ripon and the surrounding areas. This opportunity is based in a thriving secondary school environment that values high achievement, student participation, and personal development through both curricular and extracurricular activities.
As a Teacher of Physical Education, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage students to develop their physical skills, improve fitness, and enjoy participation in sport. This particular role will predominantly involve teaching Boys' PE, supporting male students across a range of age groups and abilities while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition.
Main Responsibilities as a Teacher of PE:
- Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach a broad range of sports and physical activities, supporting students of varying abilities.
- Promote teamwork, resilience, leadership, and healthy lifestyles through sport and exercise.
- Encourage high levels of participation and engagement in physical education.
- Support students in developing practical skills, fitness, and confidence.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and educational needs.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress and attainment.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
- Contribute to extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures, competitions, and enrichment activities where required.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student wellbeing and success.
Teacher of PE Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Physical Education within a secondary school setting.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage students in a wide range of sporting activities.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
