Salary: £130 - £150 per day (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Part -Time | 5 Days per Week

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join a highly supportive, non-maintained specialist school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This rewarding opportunity is ideal for a teacher who is committed to delivering engaging and inclusive English lessons while supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs.

The school caters for pupils ranging from Reception through to Key Stage 4, providing a nurturing and highly personalised learning environment. With class sizes rarely exceeding six pupils, teachers have the opportunity to build strong relationships with learners and deliver truly individualised support that helps every child achieve their potential.

About the Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering creative, engaging, and differentiated English lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEN. You will work closely with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure students receive the highest quality educational experience.

This role would suit a teacher who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping students develop confidence, communication skills, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across a range of age groups and abilities
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
  • Support pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback
  • Encourage communication, confidence, and independence
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and parents
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential
  • Previous experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for English
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Commitment to providing outstanding educational experiences for all learners
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
  • Availability to work 5 days per week
