Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 – £650 per week
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

Are you looking to use your sports, coaching, or fitness background in a rewarding school-based support role? Schools across Rotherham are seeking motivated individuals to work as Sports Coach / Learning Support staff, helping students succeed both academically and personally.

About the School:
The schools are inclusive and supportive environments that place strong emphasis on student wellbeing, engagement, and achievement. Staff work together to create structured, trauma-informed learning environments where positive relationships, consistency, and encouragement help students thrive.

About the Role:
This is a school-based support position rather than a sports delivery role. As a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional, you will provide classroom support, behaviour support, cover supervision, and SEN support where required. Your experience in sport, coaching, or fitness will be valued for the transferable skills it brings, including communication, motivation, behaviour management, and promoting positive routines. Your primary focus will be supporting students' learning and development throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support to teachers and students across a range of subjects

  • Assist with behaviour support and student engagement

  • Supervise classes during teacher absences as a cover supervisor when required

  • Support students with additional learning or SEN needs

  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment

  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, participation, and progress

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement and wellbeing

Requirements:

  • Background in sports coaching, fitness, youth work, or a similar role

  • Confidence working with children and young people

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and adaptable

  • Interest in supporting learning and development within an educational setting

  • Commitment to promoting positive behaviour and student wellbeing

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a sporting background to transition into education and gain valuable experience supporting students in schools across Rotherham.
