Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are searching for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to work across schools in Rotherham. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated teacher who can provide consistent support to students requiring additional emotional and behavioural guidance.

The SEMH Teaching Assistant will play an important part in helping students develop positive learning behaviours, emotional awareness, and stronger engagement in school life.

Responsibilities of SEMH TA:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEMH needs
  • Encourage students to develop positive coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
  • Help maintain engagement during lessons and structured activities
  • Support the delivery of individual behaviour and wellbeing plans
  • Build positive relationships that promote trust, confidence, and progress
  • Work closely with staff to ensure consistent support and intervention strategies

Requirements for SEMH TA:

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, care, or support settings
  • Understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional in challenging situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive and proactive approach to supporting student wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
