Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Pay: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Do you have the patience and understanding to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
GSL Education keen to appoint an SEMH Teaching Assistant to work for amazing schools in Sheffield. We are seeking a calm and supportive person who can help students manage barriers to learning and build positive relationships.
The SEMH TA role gives a rewarding opportunity to provide guidance, structure, and encouragement to students who need additional emotional and behavioural support.
Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH needs during lessons and daily activities
- Help students manage emotions and stay engaged with learning
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and social development
- Provide reassurance and guidance during challenging moments
- Work with staff to follow individual support strategies
• Help maintain a calm and structured learning environment
SEMH Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Experience supporting children or young people in education, care, or support settings
- Understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Ability to stay calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Positive and flexible approach to supporting student progress
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
