Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of English looking to inspire young people through literature, language, and effective communication?

GSL Education are hiring a dedicated Teacher of English to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in Hornsea and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity to work flexibly in local schools while helping students develop essential literacy skills, confidence in communication, and a lifelong appreciation of English language and literature.

As a Teacher of English, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage students to think critically, explore a diverse range of texts, and express themselves confidently through both written and spoken language.

Teacher of English Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
  • Inspire a love of literature, language, and creative expression
  • Support students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress effectively
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement and wellbeing

Teacher of English Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Specialism in English or a related subject
  • Experience teaching English at secondary school level
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A passion for English education and student development
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
