This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, individuals considering teacher training, or experienced education professionals looking to develop their skills within a school setting. The role provides valuable experience working directly with young people and offers an excellent stepping stone into a long-term career in education.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning and complete work set by the classroom teacher. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive learning environment, managing classroom behaviour, and supporting students to remain focused and productive throughout lessons.
This position does not involve lesson planning, preparing teaching materials, or assessing student attainment. Instead, you will facilitate learning by delivering pre-prepared activities and ensuring lessons run smoothly in the teacher’s absence.
Key Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:

- Deliver pre-prepared learning activities and instructions to students
- Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment

- Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson participation and behaviour
- Support the wider school team in maintaining high standards of learning and conduct
- Assist with the organisation and coordination of cover arrangements where required
- Promote student engagement, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning
As the Ideal Cover Supervisor, You Should Have:
- Experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or youth support setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in managing groups of students and maintaining classroom discipline
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to remain calm, professional, and adaptable in different classroom situations
- A positive and proactive approach to supporting student learning
- An interest in education and supporting young people's development
- A degree or relevant qualification would be advantageous but is not essential
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
