Cover Supervisor
Location: Fulford and surrounding areas, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time, Part-Time, Temporary, Supply
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £102 – £120 per day

GSL Education are hiring a reliable Cover Supervisor to undertake short-term cover and long-term placements within local schools in Fulford and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, graduates, and experienced education professionals to develop their skills in a classroom environment.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the regular teacher
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain on task
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and expectations
- Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate
- Monitor student engagement and maintain a positive learning atmosphere
- Record attendance and report any concerns or incidents to relevant staff
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all students
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to promote student success
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or youth work setting is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities
- Confidence in leading groups of students and maintaining engagement
- A flexible, professional, and proactive approach to work
- A degree or relevant qualification is highly desirable
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
