Job Title: History Teacher
Location: Fulford, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £168.80 – £261.79 per day

GSL Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to work in secondary schools across Fulford and the surrounding areas.
As a History Teacher, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that encourage students to explore a wide range of historical periods, cultures, and events. You will support learners in developing their analytical, research, and evaluative skills while fostering a genuine interest in the subject.
Main Responsibilities as a History Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging History lessons in line with the national curriculum and examination specifications.
- Teach a broad range of historical topics, helping students understand key events, themes, and historical interpretations.
- Encourage critical thinking, discussion, and independent enquiry through the study of historical sources and evidence.
- Support students in developing strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and educational needs.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and academic performance.
- Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and enrichment activities where required.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes a love of History.
History Teacher Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for historical learning.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
