Teaching Assistant – Primary SEMH Provision
Location: Poole
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time, Term Time Only

GSL Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a specialist Primary SEMH provision in Poole, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent, full-time, term-time only basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support primary-aged pupils who require additional social, emotional and mental health support within a nurturing and highly structured environment. The school is committed to helping every child develop confidence, resilience and the skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs. You will play a vital role in helping students engage with learning, develop positive relationships and achieve meaningful progress.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Encouraging emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Delivering targeted interventions and learning support.
- Assisting with the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans.
- Supporting pupils during structured activities, lessons and social times.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff.

What You'll Need
- Experience working with children, ideally within a primary setting.
- A positive and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through GSL Education.
